On December 31, 2023, YG Entertainment released a video addressing the future of their newest group, BABYMONSTER. The video titled "BABYMONSTER NEXT PHASE | YG Announcement" showed us a message from YG founder, Yang Hyun-suk, going over different details about the future of BABYMONSTER.
One of the topics covered was the future of YG trainee, Ahyeon, who was supposed to debut with the group, however, when the group debuted, they debuted with only 6 of the 7 members that were announced for the group, with Ahyeon missing. YG addressed this in the video in the section titled "What are the comeback plans for AHYEON?"
When addressing this question he said:
"Ahyeon had to stop training for a few months due to health reasons. As BABYMONSTER's debut had to be pushed beyond this year they had to debut on November 27th as six members. It's still uncertain when AHYEON will join, so I will inform you publicly in due course."
This means that AHYEON could still go on to become a member of BABYMONSTER in the future. AHYEON was originally announced as the first selected member of the group, and was widely believed by fans that she would go on to become the leader of the group. We wish AHYEON a speedy recovery.
